Noam Chomsky, “Corporatization of the University”, July 12, 2013 at Rackham Auditorium, University of Michigan Ann Arbor

Noam Chomsky, an American linguist, philosopher, cognitive scientist, logician, historian, political critic, and activist, will be speaking about the Corporatization of the University for an hour on July 12th.  There will also be a question and answer session.

Tickets are free to GEO/LEO members and to AAUP members. General admission is $5. For tickets see Eventbrite.

This event is co-sponsored by: American Association of University Professors-American Federation of Teachers Local 6075, American Federation of Teachers-Michigan, Coalition for Tuition Equality, Eastern Michigan University Federation of Teachers, Lecturers’ Employee Organization, 2013 Linguistics Institute of the Linguistic Society of America, UM Philosophy Department, and the Washtenaw Community Action Team.

Chomsky spoke on the topic of “Academic Freedom and the Corporatization of Universities” at the U of Toronto Scarborough in 2011; here’s a 90 minute speech. I don’t expect that this event will be a repeat.
